father in law

from mikestafford

I was requested by the owner of this blog to share on how to get along with your father-in-law in conjunction to my past post on “top tips get along with your mother-in-law”. Instead of writing on how to get along with your father-in-law, rather I would share with you how to be on the best terms with your father-in-law.

My father-in-law ran a grocery shop business. He is a man of wisdom and wit though he appeared like any typical father-in-law on sitcom - stern and strict. To me, he is different. He is more that a father-in-law. He is a friend, a mentor…Just how did we develop this wonderful relationship?

Choosing the right baby name is a big challenge for soon-to-be parent.  I shouldn’t even call it a “baby name”, as your baby will soon grow into an adult and the name must grow up and suit the person he or she will become.

So where do you start when considering a name?  It is a daunting task as there are literally thousands to choose from, and everyone will have their personal preferences.

For my husband and me, our daughter’s name, Maya, came to us after thinking back on our travels and the happy times we spent together pre-baby.  We met a young woman called Maya while travelling through the Philippines in the 90’s.  She was a Brit; a bit of a free spirit, adventurous, courageous, quick witted, beautiful and fun.  These were all attributes we respected and hoped our daughter would develop.

18 Important Reasons To Breastfeed Your Baby

Posted by amelia on 13 Jun 2008 at 03:00 am | Tagged as: planning for family

from lotke

When I was pregnant and contemplating this issue for the first time, it seemed to me that breastfeeding was the most logical, practical way to feed my baby. Why bother with bottles, sterilisers and formula when I had it all freely available to me? What point is there for my breasts to fill up with warm, nutritious milk if my baby can’t benefit from it?

Of course I understood that some women could not breastfeed for health reasons. A few viruses such as HIV can be passed through the breast milk to baby, as can some infectious illnesses like streptococcus infections. Breastfeeding can also be painful in the first few weeks. Nipples can crack, breasts can become engorged and the milk ducts can become blocked and infected causing mastitis.
